Mga Alamat ng Pilipinas

Ang alamat ay isang uri ng panitikan na nagsasalaysay sa pinagmulan ng mga bagay-bagay sa daigdig. Ito ay isang di-makasaysayan o hindi napapatunayang kuwento na nagpasalin-salin sa ibat-ibang panahon na bagamat hindi kailanman lubos na pinaniniwalaan ng mga mambabasa ay minsa'y hindi rin labis na pinag-aalinlangan. Madalas sinasagisag ng mga alamat ang mga katutubong paniniwala at kolektibong mga karanasan ng grupo na kung saan ang tradisyon na ito ay nabibilang.



Ilan sa mga paboritong alamat ng mga Pilipino ay tungkol sa pinagmulan ng mga prutas at gulay, pati na rin ang mga alamat ng mga pook. Ang mga alamat na ito ay nagpapaliwanag sa pinanggalingan ng isang bagay bagamat kathang isip lamang at karamihan ay may tema ng pagbibigay ng gantimpala sa kabutihan at pagpapataw ng kaparusahan sa masamang gawi. Dahil karamihan sa mga kuwentong alamat ay kapupulutan ng aral, kinagigiliwan itong basahin hindi lang ng mga bata kundi pati na rin ng mga matatanda.
